COMMUNITY SCIENCE PROJECTS:
OPERATION HEALTHY AIR

ENGAGING WITH INLAND EMPIRE SCHOOLS

In collaboration with Earthwatch, we are working with five schools in San Bernardino County. This project is focused co-creating learning experiences with teachers and students as they make sense of air quality data collected in their local communities.

AIR QUALITY DURING
C19 STAY AT HOME ORDERS

The COVID-19 stay at home orders have presented a unique opportunity to look at air quality changes with changes in habits and activity. Our local schools have seen interesting patterns that reveal both improvements and declines in air quality shining light on environmental justice & equity issues in our communities. As schools look at this data deeper, more questions and actions continue to emerge.

FROM LOCAL PHENOMENA TO
RELEVANT ENGAGEMENT IN SCIENCE

Science learning comes alive when students engage by doing science & engineering connected to the issues and phenomena in their local communities. Asking questions and seeking answers are the first steps towards taking informed and meaningful action.
